Washington, DC

Washington D.C.’s status as the nation’s capital is largely due to a dinner hosted at the home of Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson met with James Madison and Alexander Hamilton to negotiate the relocation of the Capitol from New York City. Originally chosen by George Washington for both its natural beauty and the navigability of the Potomac River, the District is bordered by Maryland and Virginia. The influence held in the District of Columbia over the nation’s eating and drinking habits is literally immeasurable. The Food and Drug Administration regulates food products across the United States, assuring food safety through the enforcement of guidelines. Due to its cosmopolitan nature and being host to a number of foreign embassies, Washington D.C. is awash in restaurants featuring cuisines from around the world.

Banana Pancakes I

Next time, I would cook these on a lower heat to ensure bananas inside were cooked entirely.

Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

Reviewed on Oct. 8, 2008 by msslauren
This was amazing. Even my 4 year old son couldn't get enough. I did however broil the asparagus with a little garlic salt and pepper over buttered flavor pam, and then broiled cashews I chopped on the same pan once the asparagus was completed. Followed all other directions entirely. This was amazing, the combination sounds a bit strange, but together it was a perfect combination.
